In what is rapidly becoming a trend, Itheko secured another fabulous team prize win in the Lion of Africa 10k race at the weekend. The team prize win follows a similar feat in the Brackenfell 10km last Wednesday, where the club also claimed first prize in the men’s and women’s categories.
On Saturday, Itheko claimed first, second, fourth and sixth place to secure the team prize. The club also had the first two juniors across the line – they incidentally finished second and fourth overall.
Nadeel Wildschutt continued his good form from his Brackenfell win to claim the victory in the mostly flat 10km on the day. His younger brother Adrian was second with Carlo Flink in fourth and Gershwin van Staden in 6th. The boys’ mentor Tobias Philander was the first master runner over 50 across the line.
The event, which is sponsored by our club’s headline sponsor but hosted by Spartan Harriers, also featured a 21km race which wound its way through some tough inclines in and around Constantia.
